20 Hryven – Ukraine

This coin depicts Ukraine's integrity through its national emblem, supported by Saint Michael and a crowned lion—symbols of Kyiv and the Galicia-Volhynia principality. Inscriptions of "УКРАЇНА" and "20 ГРИВЕНЬ" are separated by baroque ornaments and griffins. The left side bears the fineness (Ag 925) and weight (31.1).

A string bead circle depicts Cossack Mamay, an 18th-20th century Ukrainian folk motif. He sits Turkish-style in a fur-trimmed coat, playing bandura and smoking. Around him are Cossack attributes: a horse tied to a spear with a flag, an oak with a sabre, a pistol, powder case, Turkish hat, and vodka. Encircling inscriptions read: "КОЗАК МАМАЙ" (left) and "ЛИЦАР ВОЛІ І ЧЕСТІ" (right), separated above by the spear's flag and below by a cranberry spray.
