The Small State Emblem of Ukraine is set within a Greek-style heraldic cartouche, accompanied by the inscriptions: 2000, УКРАЇНА, 5, ГРИВЕНЬ, and the inaugural mintmark of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.
The upper portion shows the 15th-century Akerman Fortress from the Citadel and Commandant Tower side. Below, Akerman's emblem is depicted semi-circled among Tyre coins from the 4th century B.C. to the 3rd century A.D., with the inscriptions: БІЛГОРОД-ДНІСТРОВСЬКИЙ and 2500 / РОКІВ.
