Designed by Yves Sampo, Stefanie Lindner, Alina Hoyer, and Sneschana Russewa-Hoyer, the coin features stylised portraits of treaty signatories Konrad Adenauer and Charles de Gaulle above their signatures, flanking "50 ANS JAHRE" and "2013". "TRAITÉ DE L’ÉLYSÉE" and "ÉLYSÉE-VERTRAG" appear along the top and bottom edges. A mint mark and the issuing country "D" are below Adenauer. The outer ring displays the 12 stars of the EU.
