The coin's front features Kazakhstan's national emblem on an ornamental background. The circumference bears "ҚАЗАҚСТАН ҰЛТТЫҚ БАНКІ," while the lower section shows the denomination "500 ТЕҢГЕ." The left sector displays the mint's trademark and "Au 999," and the right shows the weight "31.1 g." The edge is circumferential.

The reverse features two snow leopards against stylized mountains, the year "2009", and the inscriptions "БАРЫС" and "UNCIA UNCIA" around the edge.
