The coin centers on the "Battle of the Nemiga River" miniature from the 13th-century Radziwill Chronicle, depicting the 1067 clash between Vseslav of Polotsk and the sons of Yaroslav the Wise. Below, the historic names of the city ("МЪНЬСКЪ", "МЕНЕСК", "МЕНСК") are arranged to evoke the Nemiga River's flow.
