This design features a decorative detail from the facade of Victor Horta’s Art Nouveau ‘Hotel Van Eetvelde’ in Brussels, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its curved, asymmetrical, nature-inspired lines occupy the lower half, with “ART NOUVEAU” above. The right bears the designer’s initials (Iris Bruijns). The left shows the Utrecht mintmark (mercury staff), the Belgian mint director’s mark (aster flower and Erlenmeyer flask), “BE,” and “2023.” The outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.

A Western Europe map spans the coin's right side, with "2 EURO" overlaid—the "2" in the Atlantic. Twelve stars flank the map, six above and six below, connected by six vertical stripes across the inner core.
