Obverse

Description:
Slovak history unfolds on the wings of Nike, accompanied by the Latin motto "QUID DURAT VINCIT." The lower margin features ancient Celtic coins. Above a central Hungarian crown—symbolizing centuries within the Kingdom of Hungary—are national revival leaders Štúr, Hurban, and Hodža. Their efforts led to codified Slovak, a national political program, and the 1848 uprising for recognition and rights. The state shield at the top marks the independent Slovak Republic's origin in 1993.
