Zenaida Doves are medium-sized, slender doves found in the Caribbean and parts of Central America. They are known for their soft, mournful cooing calls and are often seen in pairs or small flocks. Their plumage is generally brownish-gray with iridescent spots on the wings and a distinctive white trailing edge on the tail. They inhabit a variety of environments including woodlands, scrublands, and coastal areas. Zenaida Doves primarily feed on seeds, grains, and small insects found on the ground. The species is named after Princess Zénaïde Bonaparte, a noted naturalist.
