Description:
Antonio Canova’s *The Three Graces*, commissioned by Napoleon for Josephine and created from 1812–1816, resides in the Hermitage Museum. Inspired by the Greek divinities Aglaea, Euphrosyne, and Thalia—protectors of artists—the sculpture embodies the Neoclassical ideal “Pleasure According to Reason.” The medal’s reverse shows the Graces in bust form, framed by an upward‑opening line.
